Molecular Biology

Molecular biology is a discipline that studies biological processes at a molecular level, in the interactions between different cellular systems, including nucleic acids (DNA and RNA) and proteins.

Most of the molecular biology techniques used are based on the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR). Said reaction allows the amplification of known DNA fragments, to be subsequently detected by different variants.

These techniques allow us to have a great sensitivity and analytical specificity. They are applied for various purposes, such as the identification of individuals, monitoring of treatments, establishment of diagnoses, detection of bacteria and viruses, determination of viral load, and the study of mutations and gene polymorphisms, among others.
